Christian Beyer

Christian Beyer was born in 1977 into a musical family. He attended the music school in his hometown Dessau (Saxony-Anhalt) with lectures in violin and viola as well as composition. From 1996 to 2002 C. Beyer studied at the conservatory “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” viola and conducting. During his studies he attended the Gewandhaus orchestra Leipzig as a substitute and co-founded the Mendelssohn chamber orchestra Leipzig.

 

After his studies was Beyer violist at the Philharmonic State orchestra of Halle and 2003 to 2006  solo-violist (2nd position) at the Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau. 2004 he received a scholarship of the Richard-Wagner-Association Dessau. In 2009 he took part as violist at the Bayreuth Festival in the opera “The Flying Dutchman” for children.

 

In 2006 C. Beyer changed from the Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau as Director of Planning to the Theater und Philharmonie Thüringen, located in Gera and Altenburg.

 

Since 2008 he is solo-violist of the Leipzig Symphonic Orchestra. In addition to his orchestral engagement C. Beyer attended as a soloist and with various chamber music formations in Germany, Europe and Asia.

 

In various opera productions C. Beyer worked as assistance of the director and as stage manager with Prof. Matthias Oldag, Prof. Stephan Blüher and Claudia Zahn. Since 2000 he also works in Pfefferkorn Music-Publishing Leipzig and as a freelance music engraver, corrector and arranger. C. Beyer works as arranger for diverse chamber music formations as well as orchestras.

 

From 2003 till 2006 C. Beyer was musical director of the regional music school symphony orchestra in the southern Saxony-Anhalt. Since 2006 he is conductor and musical director of the Young Philharmonic Mansfeld-Südharz.

 

Since 2009 C. Beyer is working alongside Christian W. Petersen at the concept and realization of their opera project “Nathan The Wise”.
